Rally at ICE Office in San Francisco this Friday 8/12 at 11 a.m.

August 9, 2011 | Filed under: Announcements and tagged with: Community, Faith in Action, Immigration Reform, Living Our Principles

From the East Bay Interfaith Immigration Coalition:

Please come out to a rally in front of the ICE (Immigration and Custom Enforcement) offices in San Francisco this Friday morning, August 12th. The unilateral announcement by ICE about S-Comm (Secure Communities) last Friday demands an immediate and collective response from our communities.

ICE essentially nullified all contracts with states, announcing that it really doesn’t need any consent by states or counties to participate in Secure Communities (S-Comm), since participation in the program is mandatory. This is in direct response to snowballing community opposition to this program on many moral, civil rights and public safety grounds. For more information, several press releases and statements from community and immigrant rights groups are below.

Gather at Montgomery BART Station at 11 a.m.
